One of the most important steps to truly capture the spirit of your dog will be spent getting to know them personally. The initial meet is valuable time to spend understanding their personality and characteristics. I work my ideas from the live experience and use photos to capture the right moment. Once complete we can review the images together and agree the chosen pose. After selecting the chosen pose you get the option of picking a background from a selection of paint swatches followed by frame choice. The colours are uniquely created to complement the overall composition. As mentioned, all paintings include a hardword frame with bespoke options available.
*If meeting up is not an option, I can communicate online but images will need to be of a certain standard to be suitable for use.
** If your dog has passed away; I can still attempt to work from existing photos, but they will need to be of a certain quality.
Once all arrangements have been agreed I will commence work. I work with oil paints and so the process takes a 4-6 weeks to complete. Once the paint is completely dry I then varnish to protect the work for UV rays and long life.
All artwork is suplied with a professionally fitted frame as chosen in the earlier consultion stage. A further week is required for framing.
The painting will be delivered or presented by hand if I am able to do so. This is usually decided by your location. I always try to deliver by hand because it gives me great satisfaction to witness the initial unveiling of your painting. It's a great honour to paint a commsioned artwork and the reaction I experience is just one of the reasons for painting dogs time and time again.
Each piece of artwork is created to the highest standards possible. I use the the finest brushes, the purest pigments of oil paint onto professional artists' canvas. The art is then finished with a beautifully crafted frame. If the picture is to become a focal point or treasured gift, then I believe it deserves the best care and attention when it comes to production.
